I've been a big fan of Warren Zevon since my early 20's, living in the East Village commune, working a corporate job during the day and being as countercultural as possible nights and weekends...
Warren is really, really ill, not expected to live much longer. This is indescribable.
I've been yearning to go back to singing and writing music, and don't have time now to actually do it. But if I did, I'd do a Warren Zevon tribute concert.
when I have time later, I'll figure out what a dream concert would be. For now, some essential songs:
Accidentally Like a Martyr
Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner
Hasten Down the Wind
Johnny Strikes Up the Band
Werewolves of London
Lawyers, Guns & Money
Mohammed's Radio
Play it all night long
Have to admit to knowing the early work better, and I'll need to get all of his albums very soon.
Hi. I know this is off-topic and I apologize, but I saw your post on JoHo's blog about how you have decided to back Howard Dean, and I just wanted to let you know, in case you did not already, that the bat is back on the Dean website, and the campaign is trying to raise $5 million in 10 days. I wanted encourage you to donate (this is legal if you are an American citizen, even if you are living in Japan) and to give you the information for how to put the bat on your blog, if you would like to do that. The image source is http://images.deanforamerica.com/bat/5.5.bat.gif and you can link it to http://www.deanforamerica.com/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=1090&px=1318480
Or if you want, you can start your own Dean team. Sorry to post off-topic and keep up the good work with your site!
